TPN

My most exciting project outside of my academic career was the launch of my social enterprise. In my third year, I secured funding from Hogan Lovells, York Law School and Aspinect Social Entrepreneur Funding in collaboration with KPMG to set up The Power Network [TPN]. TPN aims to equip 16/17-year-old girls, with a similar educational background as me, with the tools to achieve their academic goals. My goal was simple, to invest in girls who faced the same educational barriers I encountered to ensure that they had support, knowledge and opportunities to flourish. My team and I, had a 3-phase plan and a clear path of execution. Firstly, each candidate was matched up with their own personal mentor, who checks in with them weekly. We matched the girls with the mentors who were currently in the industry or academic institutions they aspire to reach. Phase 2 – we ran an Easter Academic School, graciously hosted by York Law School, focused on building the academic skills needed to succeed at A Level. Phase 3 - we held a series of UCAS clinics to ensure that our girls’ application were flawless. At the end of the programme the mentees had received offers from the prestigious academic institutions such as Cambridge University, University of Oxford, University of York, University of Birmingham and University of Warwick. With Goldman Sachs the world's leading Investment Bank has partnered with us, offering the girls on the programme the opportunity to come to their London HQ.
