tsamurai's Newsletter 1

  • ivan kireev

Our first newsletter, launched April 1, 2019. We're not ready but decided to proceed, despite the fact our digital presence is nearly non-existent.

The first thing to understand about Ivan and Jacob's idea of "what a future production company should be" is accepting the fact that traditional movies should now be considered as Narrative Universes (or Intellectual Property) consumed transmediatically (distributed through different channels, including newsletters, social media feeds, blogs, websites):
Nowadays it's not about just making a movie, but books, comics, theatre plays and videogames and the relationship with the fans should be fostered from the start- as a way for creators to finance their content through the audience, but nearly as important, *as a way to test it*.
For you, the audience, it's a participatory experience. We ask you to buy our merchandising before the movie is finished, but from the very beginning, you get to help us choose the name of our projects (and to help us choose characters’ names, their favorite colors, wardrobe and prop selection, background colors, etc.). Once the project is finished, you receive a proportional part of the profits, as per your participation. If God forbid, we are not successful, you at least get to keep the merchandising.
But our merchandising is more than just promotional items, they're tokens, a portal to offline experiences in the shape of books, magazines, art books, comics, board games, playing cards, etc. Our apparel is either worn by our characters, embeds a secret code in Augmented Reality or UV light and grants you access to our itinerant Thematic Events.
We are testing the efficiency of our plan through our content, an adaption of Hamlet in a strip club through our main sites, namemymovie.com and meproduce.com.
Tomorrow we will review our adaptation of Hamlet.
