TUI: Pitch Proposal
I was lucky enough to play a key part in one of the largest pitch proposals I’ve ever completed while working at Thirdway. The client was the well known travel company TUI, seeking to build a new 3 floor office HQ in Luton. After several stages of submissions and pitching, we came out victorious. As well producing 3 or 4 documents, digitally and printed, we created mock passports and boarding passes as props to help get our message across to the client, helping everything to feel more personalised and considered. Along with this we had video and animated content to help bring our proposal to life.
We had to work very quickly on this one and to a high standard at all times. I was an important part of the the team effort, enabling us to hit every deadline without failure. In terms of my specific responsibilities on this project, I spent a lot time creatively directing our proposal, tailoring it to the TUI brand guidelines refreshed fairly recently by Design Studio.
I took this look and feel and inputted it into our documents to help give TUI a sense that we understood their visual aesthetic down to the last detail. I think this helped us greatly in our submissions, giving us clear visual consistency.
Overall this was an extremely successful project, with an incredible amount of cross team collaboration to make sure we hit every criteria. I collaborated with the Heads of Technical, ESG and Project Management to help make sure that we addressed each part of TUI’s brief. In terms of brand integration into the physical space, I worked with the interior designers on the project to implement subtle cues from TUI’s visual language. The curved ceiling lights mimic the curve of the famous TUI ‘smile’ without being obvious replications of the logo itself.
We also looked at including a large digital AV screen in the arrival area of the office space. We intended for this to have dynamic content on display as well as being used for impact during townhall meetings and talks.
Upon arrival, the concierge / reception desk is one of the first steps in the visitor journey. We suggested placing the TUI smile on this desk. This would be an off white colour to compliment the surrounding neutral and earthy tones in this space. Other visual cues refer to the secondary and tertiary TUI colour palettes, curved lines in the logo and inspiration from some of TUI’s holiday locations around the world.
