A recent trip to Paris saw a visit out to the Palace of Versailles. I was immediately obsessed with all the textures and surfaces not only in the main palace but the surrounding living quarters. Architraves, walls, floors, vases, table tops and fire places were made up of beautifully toned marble and other stone and I ultimately found myself getting more photos of this than anything else. When i got back to London I uploaded my snaps to my computer and began playing with them in Photoshop. Then I obsessed over this, and compiled an array of layered images that celebrate the finer details of the French site. These digital compositions have subsequently become the Versailles Series - A collection of twelve mash ups of textures from the Palace of Versailles combined with some heavy layers of Hollie.
