'Vice & Virtue: Visions of the Future'

  • Louise Fricker
Louise's interest in the work of the Marquis de Sade and Francisco de Goya particularly inform her most recent work in the series; 'Vice & Virtue: Visions of the Future'2015 which is based on Sades novel Justine or the Misfortunes of Virtue.
The series predominatley conceptualises Sade's complex themes through three individual panoramic etchings, that together form aTriptych.

Vice & Virtue: Visions of the Future explores the opposing forces of good and bad and how this affects us individually, in society, and how it can shape our future.
The Triptych conceptualises Sade's theories surrounding the Human Condition, through themes of the Carnival and the Grotesque and places them in a world where roles can be reversed.
