The brief set the challenge of designing components for a Ken Loach – Open air film week that is to be held in Newcastle this approaching summer. The tagline I came up with also provided me with a starting point for my concept Voices from Below. It came from the idea that Loaches films where giving a voice to the working class, often in times of desperation. The identity uses the typeface Calvert by Margaret Calvert and Monotype Grotesque by Frank Hinman. Both typefaces are quintessentially British with a gritty, working class roughness to their style. The brief has challenged me in regards to branding and identity design and I have found it very insightful.
