Idea of North presented a series of projects that play with the convention of the ‘expo’ event. Pavilions, architectural constructions and guest-curated displays celebrated the enduring resilience and transforming spirit of a northern identity through architecture, photography, music and design.

As guest curators, MaterialDriven designed a geodesic dome, 7 meters in diameter, for this exhibition. Including my own artwork, the dome comprised of 150+ panels, composed of materials from Northern UK. Materials were sourced from legacy manufacturers, makers, designers, artists in the north, representing the history and innovation of the region.
"Interspersed with triangles of engaging materials, are thought-provoking questions that invite the visitor to pause and contemplate the identity of the North, and ideas concerning material futures. These concerns become a common thread that unites materials of diverse origins and timelines. Touched upon are themes such as the Anthropocene, reclaiming and mining waste, structural efficiency, advanced responsiveness to the environment and grown materials."
