Waiter, Bartender, Creator

…is an augmented reality project working between the planes of large format anthropological portraiture and digital imaging in the form of the viewers’ phone screens to represent the issues with unemployment within the creative industry, in particular in relation to students. All of the sitters whose portraits are presented herein are fellow creatives working outside their field, in large part due to a lack of available paid internships within their field. This project stands against the norm of unpaid “for experience” internships being offered to adults and sees those as an opportunity for large brands to exploit young, inexperienced creatives, all-the-while indirectly generating a divide and inequality between students of means and those without.
