3rd year design project. Designing one character through out the film Waking at Dawn.
The chosen character was Mallam Isa, the father of the child from whom the perspective of the film is seen.
The film is set in 1960s Nigeria, looking at the religious conflict between 2 tribes. Set over the course of 24 hours we see this tense atmosphere converge, and tragedy strike.
My concept for the costume designs was to design the character from the perspective of a child, his son Khalid. So we watch his changing perception of his father through the days events.
