Brief: Using senses, how can design bring awareness in the present and adaptation to the future of climate change?

WEATHERING OF TOMORROW

FEEL TOMORROW, CHANGE TODAY.
DESIGN PROCESS~

Starting point
What is climate Change And What is our response?

Climate change is the changing of the planet, and we are not accepting this change by trying to change the outcome of the future obsessively, resulting to planting fear in people and pushing certain lifestyles.. Moreover we are resulting to geoengineering, a means with dangerous unpredictable outcomes.
What could be the result

Chosen concept

My chosen concept is the speculative design. A garment that pushes people to adapt to their future of unpredictable weather. Looking closely at rain.

A PLASTIC GARMENT, FILLED WITH WET FABRIC, MAKING THE USER FELL SOGGY AND UNCOMFORTABLE.
Further development

I was looking at plastic movements as it’s one of the big elements that contributes to climate change (global warming) and trying to bring the aesthetics of storms and rain drops.
Further development

Through development, I looked at what happens when it over rains and the effects of rising water levels. The developing design mimics the way people fold their clothes as they walk into the muddy water and also the way people hold bags of their belongings to flee to safety.
Experiments

I looked at real snow and placed it in plastic to see the melting process to understand the melting stages better.
Experiments

I also looked at the water movements and how long it takes for the snow to melt inside plastic. I also tried seeing the difference in snow and ‘iced water’
Final development

I developed it further. I wanted to make it as different stages of progress, mimicking the stages of the changing planet. The garment balls contain water plus fur in the middle, for it to deceive as if it’s supposed to make the wearer warm but in fact it gives opposite feelings.
