Why not the rough? Shagreen

The shagreen skin, with rough scales, is usually used as a luxury leather in marquetry, after an important finishing step that smooths the material. It is appreciated for his round and shiny visual patterns, but its soft touch feel. However, the natural roughness of the skin is full of interest. It is composed of spherical patterns, sculpted by the water. If we touch the skin on the same direction as the water, it's quite smooth. On the opposite way, each drop is scratching. If we press down on it, the scales sink into our skin and deliver an invigorating sensation.
This sensation can be useful to stimulate the human body. As an example, the  exploration of the prickly texture of this bed rug carpet can help you to wake up in the morning. In collaboration with Rahael perfettini, a shagreen skin specialist, we developed a manufacturing processes to transform the skin without damaging the scales. The skins are shovel, cut and regrouped by a range of scales, waited and press on a hilly model until it is dry.
