Wilderness

Im completely obbessed with Owls! There is something so whimisal and magical about them.
Client wanted a wilderness themed art show. I decided on using a folklore inspired owl that I drew for the main image of the poster.
This is the outcome after 9 hours. It did take me a while to complete and was not happy that the eyes weren't symmetric, but that adds to the overall appearance and likeability of the illustration. I then scanned in my drawing and opened it up into Adobe illustrator.
When it was imported into Adobe Illustrator, I then began drawing it out again. I found out half way through that I could use image trace, but it didn’t give the same effect that I got when I manually outlined each hand-drawn line. As you can see I have started to process and this is 18 hours into using Illustrator. When I had outlined the owl design, I then had to choose which colour scheme I was going to use. I wanted to use browns, oranges and yellows to follow a simple colour scheme of an owl. I didn’t want to overly change each feather to different shades, as I wanted the owl to be simple, yet complex.
