Without Bees - Final Major Project

  • Ellie Covington

This project aims to educate new homeowners on the devastating effects of bee extinction, using our diets to demonstrate how exactly bees affect our lives. The chosen audience for this project was inspired by the ever-growing threat housing developments pose to the habitat of bees, and I wanted to provide new home owners with the knowledge to counteract this effect. The main message I wanted to communicate through this project was the sense of loss, created by pixelating and redacting certain elements of this publication, with the intention of creating change for the better in terms of our environment. (Final Major Project)

The book itself would be part of a pack, that would be sent to new home owners upon signing up to an energy company specialising in renewable energy. The book is accompanied by suggestion cards which give examples of ways the reader could make their lives and homes more bee efficient, as well as being given a pack of wild flower seeds to assist in the process. Designed using ‘EAST’ a method which suggests that people make choices based on ease, attractiveness, social aspects and time.
