Wurlitzer - Short FIlm by Marcus Hessenberg - filmed in the Troxy

  • Marcus Hessenberg

Wurlitzer, filmed at the Troxy Theatre in the East End of London. The Wurlitzer is a beautiful theatre organ that was once in cinemas up and down Britain. Now, the instruments are a rarity. Thanks to the Cinema Organ Society, I was able to film Phil Kelsall, a professional player from Blackpool and interview his experiences with the instrument. The Wurlitzer is an organ which playes from the sides of the building and is linked to all sorts of authentic sounds - from a real piano to whistles and sirens. There are now very few of these beautiful machines left in the country, espcially with in theatres. You can see more from The Cinema Organ Society and go see the instrument in real life at their events at https://www.cinema-organs.org.uk/ Directed, Filmed and Edited by Marcus Hessenberg.
