Young & Co's: The Thatched House

As partner in a design studio, Decoder, I was approached by the new manager of The Thatched House, Hammersmith, to work on the new branding of the pub which was part of the Young & Co's pub portfolio.

The project involved designing the hanging exterior pub sign, creating a logo that could be used across marketing platforms and to design and illustrate their menus.

Pub signs are very dear to any pub clientele's heart and it was important that it quickly found favour with the neighbours. We incorporated a house martin which was an element from the previous sign which gave some continuity, linking the past with the present. The sheaf house became the logo and was used in house drinks labelling. In addition to designing the sign for Youngs requested a design for a beer font for the custom beer brewed for the pub by an external brewery, Sambrooks of Wandsworth.

Later, as the project developed, a large canvas was commissioned to celebrate the production of their close neighbour, Sipsmith Distillery. A fantastically diverse project.
