Youth Culture

During this project I looked closley at youth culture and the effects social media has on young people today. I drew upon my own experiences, my friends and environment as well as what I have seen on social media to generate my drawings. We spend a lot of our time living through social media writing statuses/ tweets, liking posts, common hash tags, and posting selfies. I made drawings from life and observations I made while I was in London as well as being heavily influenced by television shows such as Skins and Channel 4's Teens, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat. I used this wide range of research to gain a better understanding of how teens communicate and used the medium of drawing to show this. My drawings where shown within the University in a Pop up exhibition, Youth of Europe, this was an exhibition curated within our studio, Open House, based on design and illustration aimed at Youth. They where also shown at my degree show at The CASS School of Art and Design along with some of my other projects.
