yr 4: Cities

Gdansk & it's relationship with Art The city of Gdansk is the perfect example of the destruction inflicted by World War II. Its streets are littered with pre war buildings with post war damage. Similarly in some of the streets the evidence of the war is seen by the collection of differing architecture, which in a way gives Gdansk its identity. During exploring and researching Gdansk I noted that there was no particular area dedicated to fashion and retail stores. This then lead me to question where fashion as a course could be studied in the city. Fashion goes beyond clothes, it is a form of art and there seemed to be a huge lack of art and creativity around the city. Artistic quarters within cities help identify the people, their beliefs and their ideas. Every artistic quarter across the world is unique to the country and the people within it.
