  • Working with film education start-up QuickClass
Working with film education start-up QuickClassOver the summer, I have worked with QuickClass to deliver educational newsletters to their audience of teachers and learners. Quickclass is an e-learning platform created by a team of passionate educators, designers, developers… (creatives all!) who want to allow film and media educators and learners around the world to coach and learn better than they’ve ever been able to before. The e-learning platform grew out of a passion for learn-by-doing filmmaking that spawned a global short-film festiva
  • HERO Magazine: Interview with Josh Nice
HERO Magazine: Interview with Josh NiceSkater-slash-photographer Josh Nice first met the Perdu skate crew in 2015 when they were in London checking out the Southbank skate scene. Josh and the crew’s mutual love of skateboarding ironed out any creases in the language barrier and an instant friendship formed. Since that initial meeting, Josh has been hanging out with the Perdu guys and documenting them for a series of zines and photobooks. His latest trek with the crew took him to Bordeaux and Hossegor for two weeks, resulting in this latest zine, titled June. Now back in London having finished production and design of June in just a month, Josh sat down with us to share his latest journey. • HERO Magazine: Interview with Brian David Stevens
HERO Magazine: Interview with Brian David StevensWhen photographer Brian David Stevens moved to Ladbroke Grove he found himself at the beating heart of West London’s annual Notting hill carnival. On his way to work, at a local gallery, Stevens would see people setting up and getting ready for the event. One specific element catch his eye; the towering speaker rigs and sound systems sat on the streets like “modern monoliths”. In the summer of 2004 Stevens woke early to capture these sonic sculptures, resulting in his series Notting Hill Sound Systems. In a reprise of this series shot twelve years ago, Stevens is releasing a new book cataloguing those original images alongside more recent photos of ‘wrapped’ or covered sound systems – further simplifying the shapes and form. Published by Cafe Royal books on 27th July, here Stevens talks us through the series and his carnival memories. Read more at: Brian David Stevens on his Notting Hill Sound Systems collection
  • HERO Magazine: Interview with Jerry Buttles
HERO Magazine: Interview with Jerry ButtlesPhotographer Jerry Buttles may be based in New York, but he can often be found anywhere but. Finding inspiration through diverse cultures, his global travels directly inform his aesthetic. Yet Buttles did not begin as a photographer; he was born in California, and attended California State University, studying art. After which he travelled Europe and worked Paris Fashion Week, shooting backstage. This is where he began to develop his unique style of photography: intimate and distinctive, drawing from the authentic power of a location. Mexico City had long seduced and alluded Buttles, the location being very close to home for a California native. The densely populated city often gets a bad rep due to the media’s exaggerated stereotypes of danger and violence, however the truth is that it’s a place boasting a fierce cultural identity and incredible pre-Hispanic underpinnings. In the Spring of 2017 Buttles finally travelled there, documenting an authentic picture of the city in his latest photo-diary. Upon returning, Buttles talked us through his travels, inspirations, and the resulting photo-diary. Read more at: Jerry Buttles on his travels around Mexico City

Work history
    Co-founder / Editor-in-Chief
    London, United KingdomFreelance
In our 1st year, I successfully set up our website and got our unique click-count to over 20,000, as well as managed the production of our 1st print issue, now published and available. This involved: scouting and advertising for contributing writers, managing the writing network, and then liaising with graphic designers for our print issue and logo, which I both co-designed using InDesign and Photoshop. Our website uses a Google Blogger CMS, hence we use Google Analytics for our web traffic analysis. As Editor-in-Chief, I am the one who designs the layout of all of our articles, schedules when they go online and writes all of our SEO content. I also successfully set up all of our social media pages, creating and keeping a consistent tone and aesthetic which is on-brand.
