- At JCL I assisted with lighting projects from the initial design stages through to manufacture and installation. - A core responsibility of mine was to create 3D models, using Solidworks, of the designs ideated in our team meetings, and render these accurately portraying light effect and surface finish using Keyshot. - I created 2D part drawings using AutoCAD and liaised with manufacturers to have these parts made, I was trained to correctly tolerance and dimension drawings by the JCL metal machinist. -I generated third angle orthographic technical drawings from Solidworks models, providing accurate and in depth part and section drawings directly from the 3D simulations. - For the ‘JCL Semi-bespoke Collection’ launch I was given my own light to design, named the ‘Clemente’ Pendant, I took this pendant from concept through to manufacture, assembling it in house post manufacture. - I conducted materials and process research finding ways to meet unusual briefs and push the boundaries of light. - I attended client meetings and site visits, interacting and designing for clients within retail, hospitality and private sectors, including Burberry, Mathmos, The Four Seasons, and The Savoy. - I assisted Mr. Coles in creating Powerpoint presentations, giving advice on layout and image placement, editing images and providing 3D design renders. I attended presentations in offices such as Speirs + Major and Burberry. - I worked on the JCL rebrand, enabling the company image to appropriately reflect the quality of their products. - I redesigned the company logo using Adobe Illustrator, inspired by Jonathan Coles’s signature. An appropriate company colour palette was decided inspired by the materials brass, copper and steel. - Using the new brand guidelines I designed printed marketing materials using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator including business cards, product information postcards, a 48 page brochure - also embedded onto the website for virtual viewing, and signage for trade shows. - I represented JCL at trade shows, including Decorex International 2017 and Olympia House & Garden Show 2016. Assisting in building and dressing the stands, representing the brand during the show days gathering project leads. - I created graphics for email newsletters sent out to clients giving news on products and events. - I took control of the company social media presence, creating an Instagram account and updating the existing Twitter, Facebook and company website to give a uniform presence with the new branding. I regularly designed posts for broadcast on these channels, growing the audience and interaction.
