About me
My name's Adam. I'm a writer, game designer and producer. I'm a multi-disciplinary writer. I copywrite, sharpening up copy for flyers or building content for a website from the ground up. I write features and articles for websites and magazines - particularly about games, communities, civic tech and social entrepreneurship. I also write for games, from rulesets for tabletop rpgs and boardgames, to dialogue and worldbuilding for videogames. I design games about people, communities, exploration and nature. I have designed games that get people creating a zine, creating a story or discussing precarious living. I run playful workshops using games, as well as workshops about game design, with previous clients including NearNow, V&A, Wellcome Collection, A Maze Berlin and Feral Vector. I also run workshops, events and projects. I worked for GameCity in Nottingham for six festivals, designing and facillitating a new event stream focused on analogue games. I've also done work marketing for charities and games, as well as community development and fundraising. You can hire me to help you get your copy up to scratch, write a feature, consult on how to make games and game design work for your organisation (or make one), or to produce on creative projects and events.
Projects
  • Random Zine Generator
Random Zine GeneratorRandom Zine Generator is a playful tool that gets people creating and making. There are two versions. The zine version is designed to play either individually or with a small group of friends. Together you work to create a zines, using prompts generated by drawing from a shuffled deck of playing cards. The party version is designed to be run for larger groups. It has been ran at events including the V&A's Friday Night Lates and Feral Vector. Participants draw three cards, giving them a verb, a noun and a constraint (e.g. Paint a picture of a statue while standing on one leg, or Write a poem about a plant for as long as you can hold your breath). These creations are all brough together by the hosts and turned into a zine that is handed out as a memento of the event.
