I am a BA (Hons) Textiles for Fashion and Interiors undergraduate at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, specialising in Printed Textile Design. This June I will be graduating and showcasing my final collection at New Designers. I have previous experience in a print design studio along with varied creative and design experience. I push the boundaries from what is comfortable towards new possibilities and innovations. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of design and making, with strong visual research skills and a comprehensive commercial awareness of seasonal fashion trends and understanding of textile properties. My practice focuses on bespoke crafted textiles by hand illustrating designs with precise and intricate attention to detail and expression of colour and texture. I further develop my print designs confidently in Adobe photoshop and Illustrator and then successfully transfer into beautiful printed textiles for both fashion and interiors. I bring passion to all my endeavours with a constant aim to develop my creativity and pursue my designing and printed textiles skills. I have a vision to embed craftsmanship from concept through to design and effectively produce unique textiles for a commercial market. I have an extensive array of skills in textiles design including in depth knowledge of repeat pattern, curating colour palettes and dye mixing which are highly transferable in a design role. I am competent with traditional textiles methods and digital processes such as screen-printing, repeat design, hand dying fabrics and yarns, weaving, visual concept, mood boards, hand drawing, painting, Adobe creative suite and digital printing. I am currently looking for a junior/ graduate entry creative role. I always welcome commissions and open to new creative opportunities. "I would define Adora as a fast learning & devoted professional. Besides her great attitude, she is a person who is able to suggest creative ideas and realize them. She has successfully presented many design options, which were during her stay at Mirjam Rouden a dynamic and fresh addition to our print collection." - Irina Vazaiou, Design & Coordination at Mirjam Rouden Ltd.
Studio assistant specialising in arts and crafts for people with learning difficulties. Assisting with workshops and up keep of the studio and print facilities.
I have learned many textiles techniques and processes as well as greater understanding for fabrics and their properties. I have become proficient with various textiles equipment and digital tools. These skills have enabled me to bring my design vision to life through experimental discoveries and outcomes by pushing the boundaries from what is comfortable towards new possibilities and innovations, while retaining the emotional and personal connections with traditional fabrics and processes.
Prior to my UCA university course, I was awarded a Scholarship and studied BA (Hons) Fashion Design at Middlesex University. This first year at Middlesex was a process of discovery, learning many useful and transferable skills such as pattern cutting, collaborating and garment construction. It was during this time that I realised my admiration for textiles. It is an artistic expression lovingly composed piece by piece, to be worn and displayed with affection and sentimental attachment.
