About me
Born and raised in New York City, USA, 1990. She is a self-taught artist, designer and a poet. she has decided to pursue her education in the Engineering discipline. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Avionics Technology, in 2014 at Vaughn college of Aeronautics and Technology, NYC. She is a multidisciplinary person who has succeeded engineering. Afaf has a collection of paintings, drawings, fashion design sketches, graphic designs, poems, writings, calligraphy, recordings of her speeches and songs. Her artworks reflects much of her timeline. Her talent has exploded during her teenage years, as her family and friends supported her to fulfill her passion for art. During her academic years, Afaf started working as a teacher’s assistant and Calculus Tutor at her college. In 2012, she started tutoring children in the Community Learning Centers in New York City. Eventually she volunteered in several organizations, as NYC Rescue Mission. She also pursued her career in Engineering with several aerospace companies. Along the way she started exhibiting in schools, colleges and other public venues in her community. She adopted a strong philosophy through art. She has been involved in community work, through mentoring and educating young women and men. She has a commitment in providing an impact on the children and influencing them to become future leaders. She has volunteered for Yale Center of British Art, and in New Haven Reads. She traveled to Europe, Asia, and Africa. She experienced the dynamic developing cultures. She participated in Manchester Art in the Park Art Fair, June 2018 and earlier she displayed her artwork in Case memorial Library February of 2018, in Orange CT. She has displayed her artworks in Yale West Campus in October, and in Colt Gateway Campus in Hartford along with hundreds of regional artists in November 2018. Her painting style is influenced by Van Goh. She prefers using acrylic paints for her paintings, and pastels in her drawings. Her bright colors symbolizes positive and yet inspiring energy for viewers and art fans
