About me
Alejandra Corral de la Serna, alias Kuska, born in 1971, lives in Madrid. She paints, most of the time, scenes ranging from illustration to artistic drawing. Her work combines painting and collage with recycled elements (magazine clippings, leaves, material, photography clippings, etc.). She has a clear preference for paper as a support and in particular for artists' books. Currently also working with textiles.
Projects
  • Black Tears Project
Black Tears ProjectBlack Tears is a research project on the use of art as an instrument for social transformation and concerns women's human rights. It is the collective creation of a work of art consisting of a tapestry of 2 x 14 meters, which has involved the participation of 2245 women from 46 countries. In fact, "this is one of the social-artistic projects that has involved a greater number of women around the world," - according to Mrs. Ana Teresa Alario Trigueros, PhD of Gender Studies at the University of Valladolid and Art Professor - and one of the first examples of Community Art in Spain.
  • The Human Dimension of Nature
The Human Dimension of NatureThis is the story of the relationship between humans and nature. The first represented here by a woman. Throughout the book the character is debating between its natural side, which she will mutilate in so far as it seizes her human essence, and the latter, which makes her sick when the natural side of mankind disappears. This goes on, until finally the balance between the two wins, not without having gone through several phases: tree, bird and flower. In the last one she simply lets herself to wither.
  • Madrenatur
MadrenaturThis is the story of Mother Nature (Madrenatur). Madrenatur goes on vacation to relax and leaves the trees and animals as guardians of the forest. While she is gone, humans are littering the forest. When she returns, she tries by all means to clean up what man has polluted, but it is not possible and the latter ends up destroying the forest. Madrenatur cries and then it starts to rain, and with the rain come the buds and some birds. Madrenatur implores us to look after her.
