About me
Current script-writer and theatre producer, Alex Ferguson graduated University of Liverpool in 2014, going to take the full-time elected position of Deputy President of the Liverpool Guild of Students for two years. In this post, he set up a student helpline, Nightline, lead a multi-million pound charity, managed large campaign teams of 40 people and negotiated and lobbied with high-level stakeholders over student issues such as housing and funding. Now business manager of MATE productions (partnered with Shakespeare North and RSC's open stages), a community theatre and arts organisation based in Knowsley, he oversees the management of productions, bid-writing and management accounts for the board Budding writer, with previous experience producing and directing plays and comic sketches at a university and semi- professional level, at the Unity theatre and other venues around Liverpool. Particularly interested in writing satirical or darkly comic work, but also have a passion and writing abilities across all genres.

    o I currently work one and a half days a week for MATE productions, a Community theatre and arts organisation based in Prescot, which works as an outreach, education and community theatre hub for the whole of Knowsley. o I am a board member of the CIC, where I have oversight of management accounts and direction of the organisation. o I am in charge of grant writing and fundraising, and collaborate with the artistic director on managing the finance and direction of projects.

    o Board member, Resources & Audit sub-committee member, one of four strategic leaders of an unincorporated charity and business. o Responsible for day to day decision-making, being the voice of the organisation, and enacting positive change for students. o Communicating with 22,000 members, through social media, campaigns, events and representative structures. o Overseeing and developing large student events like Fresher’s week and the Summer Ball. o Managing high level relationships with stakeholders, in the University of Liverpool, City Council, other Students’ Unions and organisations. o Focus on Higher Education policy, Research and Post-graduate student experience, social enterprise, sustainability and civic engagement. o Launched student overnight helpline ‘Nightline’ at the University of Liverpool. o Increased block grant funding from University by 25% though bid writing and presenting to the University. o Increased National Student Survey SU satisfaction question 23 by 18 points.
