Vessels are a consistent presence in my work. These potent objects are rich with themes and meanings; ritual, containment, reflection and metaphor. They are a means to explore the relationship between function and expression and the wonderful contingencies that occur during the act of making.
Functional design informs each of my pieces, but they are not limited to utility.
By merging ideas, form and technique, I create silverware that is unadorned yet richly tactile, celebrating the material while attempting to evoke ephemeral sensations through the metal.
My practice always involves walking; moving through landscapes both rural and urban, observing and recording, gathering and connecting. These visual archives are taken back to the workshop where I edit, refine and distill until only the essential elements remains; light and line, spaces and details; stillness and movement.
