For the nine month period when first arriving in Australia I worked as a freelance photographer for PRI Models. The work I was engaged in was to organise and supervise all aspects of photo shoots for aspiring models. This included researching locations, styling, model training, test shoots, final shoots and post production of images. As you can imagine this sometimes meant having to keep calm under pressure and constantly having to think on my feet. I had a fantastic time working for PRI models and I have received some excellent feedback which has boosted my confidence as a photographer greatly. Even though I’m back in the UK I still speak with this agency and advise on shoots.
Catch Of The Day is an extremely fast growing organisation. On average, one item is sold every 1 second, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Responsibilities included setting up the studio, collecting products from the warehouse, arranging products to shoot and framing the subject matter to capture the desired image. The products varied from homeware to high fashion items. My role predominantly for the Company focused on the fashion items, I would often manage and direct models when required. I would then prepare the images for the website. This would involve etching, retouching, resizing and uploading. I would often have to liaise with the buyers to establish the concept for each sale and then create a banner to represent the brand. As you can appreciate, I had to stay organised to meet targets and daily deadlines. I enjoyed my time at Catch Of The Day working in a team environment, it was a fun office with a ‘google’ type atmosphere. Please feel free to check out the website.
