About me
My name is Amaya Roman, originally from Spain and now based in Madrid after two years in Sydney. I have lived in London for 12 years before I moved to Sydney. I have completed a Diploma in Commercial Arts (Graphic Design) at the well renowned CATC college. I have ten years experience in Photography, I have worked with different magazines in Spain and across Europe. I am a Co-Founder of the Workers’ Photos Agency. My Graphic Design learning experience has been very rich and inspiring. I have discovered new tools that enable me to communicate and express in a way that enhances the creative experience . As a graphic designer I aim to create beautiful designs that evoke qualities of honesty and sophistication with memorable results.

  • book illustration, “A Beautiful Relationship”
    book illustration, “A Beautiful Relationship”I created this book illustration, “A Beautiful Relationship” based on the idea of the relationship between the powerfull fashion industry, the bulimic consumerist decisions and the consequences on society and the environment. I created two layers for the cover that communicate two opposing worlds, the front cover showing an illustration of a skinny, distorted semi-naked woman drawn on tracing paper. The second layer takes a similar shape as the first, only the drawings show the bloated bodies of malnurished children, a world away from the fashion industry.

  • PANTONE Perfume
    PANTONE PerfumeThe aim of this project was to create a new language to represent PANTONE colours as a fragrance. The thought behind my design was to keep the idea simple and clean for instant recognition of the PANTONE brand. By photographing drops of ink entering water I created bright, warm original shapes with colours that complement the clean shape of the packaging.
