I am a BA Hons Journalism student at City, University of London. I am enthusiastic about entering such a movement of journalists who delve straight into the encounters of the world and broadcast them. I I have work experience at Il Giornale’s hard news website InsideOver as a journalistic intern and social media manager. I have also freelanced with words available in Prospect Magazine and also co-host Podcast “Yam On It” with my peers. In a world where everyone has a broadcast platform, I wish to be part of a new wave of journalism which rises and expands media platforms and practices beyond this pandemonium of ‘digital noise’. Please feel free to peruse my online journalistic portfolio of my work and CV here: https://amberzafar8.wixsite.com/websiteLocked Pro Plan feature
As an intern, I assisted in the management of the English site ‘InsideOver’ by sub-editing and proof-reading articles, checking the grammar for English speaking audiences. Enhanced social media presence by scheduling posts throughout the day at peak times on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with appropriate SEO headlines and Meta-Descriptions to entice readers. Conceptualised and produced videos to enhance online viewership of articles and social media. Consulted with external contributors and draft emails to resolve all problems and queries as well as communicate any messages from senior staff. Elevated social media strategies and production of post through third-party apps allowing branded and thematic content to be made utilising an understanding of industry trends. Pitched and proposed new story ideas for the publication in line with their brand. All articles can be read here: https://www.insideover.com/author/amber-zafar
I hosted a small news bulletin for English listeners as part of Inspire FM’s radio show in Luton: Here I created a four minute news bulletin weekly to be aired every Friday with a catch-up of the week’s news. This consisted of local, UK and World news, relevant to the ethos of the company (Community friendly, easy listening for Muslim audiences) to be listened to in English as there is also an Urdu bulletin. Cues, Teasers and Headlines are written up and recorded in line with the news and this is edited through Adobe Audition and sent to the Editor for final approval.
