About me
Tree branches dancing in the wind, water flowing, merging and emerging, rocks moving and eroding as time ticks, hills and munros standing tall and short, with such endurance of their inhabitants...and unexpected guests. My works speak of unusual noises, rough and fine textures, glowing green feline eyes, the smell of wet dogs and cat paws, the shape of bats' noses, complimentary clash of colours, and honesty. I am an experienced printmaker(etching and linocut) and image kreator, born in South Korea in the mid '80s, later relocated myself in Europe. I am a fluent/native English speaker with a tinge of Scottish accent. Korean is also my mother language though it is seldom used. Currently trying to learn German. I am currently based in Berlin, the city of vegan döner and currywurst, with my 15 year old tuxie Piki(https://www.facebook.com/pikithemightykat).

The Celtic Goat - exhibition. (2014)“ It’s night time, the moon is lit bright and not a sound I hear in this vast darkness. I do not remember how long ago it was, but it must have been quite a while since I set off the journey, leaving the village I had lived for many moons. The memories of the kinfolk and the land we shared together become more and more obscure, and I do not look back in neither fondness nor anger. Here I have walked through countless trees, climbed up and down the hills, swam across the water…to reach the top of this Munro. The air is still, and all I see is the moon and stars… I shall set up a life here, for long enough for me to figure if this should be the place I had been longing for. ” All artworks except for photography by Amé Binnarae Kim. • The Celtic Goat x Tom Smith. (2014)
The Celtic Goat x Tom Smith. (2014)Log II. “ There was a little disturbance earlier this morning. I was fast asleep in a shelter I have made for a short stay, and I heard a noise in the nearby bushes. I looked over, and there was no living soul I could detect. It must have been wind, and I fell asleep again. The sky was dimly lit, but I was getting warmer, and I set off to find a source of water. There I found, as I passed the bush that woke me, a tree branch that has been cut off. It did not look l like it fell from the trees around here. There were no branches that were joined on the stick, although I could see where they had been. It had a strange scent…of a being, smell of a creature that I cannot recognise. Feeling eery, I walked off of it, then I started to run. It wasn’t fear, but a sort of excitement. I ran through the woods and reached the water. Smells safe enough to drink. Sun had come out of the clouds, and now everything glows in their colours. There I saw a reflection of myself in the water, and as sun shone on water, little flicks appeared, like stars in the night sky. ” Model, Costume and Mask design/production by Amé Binnarae Kim. • The Expelled. (2011)
The Expelled. (2011)My interpretation of The Expelled(plus The Calmative and The End) by Samuel Beckett. These four 'dolls' depict the characters including the narrator(protagonist), comedian and young boy(with his goat). The quotes for the dolls are from The Calmative. All dolls are hand made with found objects and hand cast pieces. "They were the perishing oaks immortalised by d’Aubigne. … Yes, no matter where you stood, in this little wood, and were it in the furthest recess of its poor secrecies, you saw on every hand the gleam of this pale light, promise of God knows what fatuous eternity." "He was telling a funny story about a fiasco. Its point escaped me. He used the word snail or slug, to the delight of all present." "Without letting go of his goat he moved right up against me and offered me a sweet out of a twist of paper such as you could buy for a penny. … The sweets were stuck together and I had my work cut out to separate the top one, a green one, from the others, but he helped me and his hand brushed mine. " "I’ll never come back here, I said. But when with a thrust of both hands against the rim of the capstan I heaved myself up I found facing me a young boy holding a goat by a horn. I sat down again. He stood there silent looking at me without visible fear or revulsion."
