On a part-time basis, I teach on the MA FASHION MARKETING & COMMUNICATION course. - I lead a trend forecasting workshop, with two interactive group projects. As an industry professional, I discuss my experience and the process of trend forecasting within a brand and the fashion industry and how this information is approached and utilised. I cover the resources available to the students within the university and the various Trend Agencies within the market. The projects encourage the students to discover and develop an awareness of current trends from runway shows. The students also produce a 'trend track'; a timeline of a subject, which has influenced culture and design within its own lifecycle, promoting the need for historical and cultural research within their work. The aim is to bring creativity and awareness of how multiple disciplinary's work together and impact one another, whilst being mindful of how trend forecasting is reflected within their own project work. I am also teaching In Visual Communications. This includes teaching CAD and visual presentation skills.

Based in MA Fashion Marketing & Communications (1 year) however changed to a part-time study program which allowed me to include live industry experience and an internship in Paris working at a Trend Forecasting agency called Stylesight. My final outcome was a report and Trend Forecasting publication. My research outcome: MEN IN THE MAKING: A survey of developments in the menswear market. This research investigates history, concepts and trends which have influenced menswear and its consumption, limited to specific theories that influenced my own work and research. The time period in which I focused my analysis was the 1980’s to the present day, although a lot of evidence used covers a wider time frame to support the origins of masculinity and ideology, using specific case studies from established brands and movements to demonstrate popular influence and consumer demand. To support my research, I produced a prototype of a trend publication; in which the concept was to offer a valuable forecasting service, with the emphasis on bridging the gap between future predictions and the history of menswear fashion and culture. Each book offered its own theme/ trend, offering inspiring imagery, which could be implemented for the use of mood and design boards, related to a specific trend. I value and encourage the relationship between theory and practice,which is reflected throughout my work. Graduated with Distinction.
