I have recently launched my not-for-profit entrepreneurial project Folkwear Society (www.folkwearsociety.com), an online global platform that explores into the visual and material folk cultures by salvaging and preserving original folk clothing and by embedding these artefacts into their own forgotten history, as well as into our contemporary story. I have single-handedly developed this project from my vision and have seen it through the ethnographic research, the managing of the creative direction and the implementation of all these on the online platform. The project was incredibly well received, and the quality of the content prompted 4-minute long average session duration as well as 1000 Facebook organic likes within the first two days.
Monocle is a global title covering current affairs, entrepreneurial businesses, culture and design topics. I had the opportunity to research, pitch ideas, carry out interviews and write short pieces in the culture and design sections of the magazine as well as contribute to the daily live shows of Monocle 24, the magazine’s round-the-clock radio broadcasting, with forward planning, script-writing and programming.
The Talks is an online magazine, with an impressive archive of unconventional interviews with top artists, film directors, musicians and photographers. I was involved in preparing the interviews with celebrities such as Burberry’s Christopher Bailey and was given the chance to personally interview fashion photographer Michael Thompson.
Working at the news desk gave me invaluable insight into the workings of a daily publication to which I contributed with research, vox pop interviews and writing. I was also involved with the weekend magazines, Saturday’s The Independent Magazine and Sunday’s The New Review.
