Final Show MA Fine ArtMy practice meditates on the act of artistic creation, transforming the matter and finding its unimaginable and indelible nature. The material embodied the subject but do not incorporate it. Create something from the matter, that occupies space and time, enables me to experience new possibilities. Being here and Matter, both from 2015 and made of pigment and wood, highlight this transformation: the gesture excavate a dark matter, opening a new surface of light which was previously filled by density and opacity. In this transformation lies the attempt of a new origin. The pigment, this real and light substance, able to fluctuate in the air, constitutes, here, the matter which cannot fuse or identify with the imagined absence, but en- ables the possibility to accept the lost. Many of my works yield to the autonomous properties of its substance – the work Convulsion II, made by the ultramarine blue pigment – is an attempt to isolate the object and to be conscious about its origins and its contexts. It also recalls the slow destruction process of time, suggesting a latent constant potential for material disappearance. These objects represent an urge for creating towards an expansion of life and they are essentially about the physicality in itself and the importance of the solid existence.
  • artisTT
artisTTArtisTT, an exhibition which I curated was part of an ongoing set of exhibitions during the Master, was an opportunity to exhibit works that were under a process of profound rethought and experimentation. The deliberate lack of a theme for artisTT? claimed the dialogue among works and raises aesthetic values about the creation while narrative and the exclusive identity of the artistic object. My work is the structure in wood and black tape, the piece that is on the left is from Pooja Aggarwal. It was a perfect combination that happened during the curatorial show. And also the red piece (wood and red ink 280 x 4 cm near the work of Neil Farnan)

drawingsTrunk was a residêncy and an exhibition that took place at Fábrica da Pólvora in Oeiras, Portugal during one month in 2013. This project born from the familiarity and memory with the shape of human body. throughout the work process this trunk was sedimented in a form of charcoal stains that accumulate line after line revealing what can not be represented and the acceptability of the absence of the body. These are drawings that reborn in the presence of one tree, one before the other. There are a trunk, human or vegetal, from wood or skin that involve us all and invites us to bread an immense air. This is the air from every day. 5 vertical drawings 220 x 150 cm charcoal on paper. 1 horizontal drawing 220 x 150 cm charcoal and dry pastel on paper

TO TRY TO START FROM THE VOID TO MAKE SOMETHING Perhaps the “impossibility” of nothingness is the main reason to create.?To start from nothing... what is the meaning of this?? Pardon, I will rephrase it: to try to start from the void to make something. There was a very careful and deep analysis behind this process and, in this sense, was extremely important to formalize an idea about this methodology. The choice to work with this process, of finding things to construct a new thing that looks like itself, found its reason of being because the memory or, more precisely, the void of memory, has an extraordinary influence in me. If I wrote above about the void of memory was because I believe the void is being the main reason why I create art. The void is thus distinct from the nothing, in fact, this word can not be used, in the history of the physics as a technical word, and can not be compared with void in metaphysics also. The void is what remains is the indelible matter, the nothing I do not know what it is.
