I am an experienced administrator with and academic background of History and Politics, adept at undertaking independent work and research, yet am friendly and approachable and enjoy cooperation with colleagues. I am a creative thinker, who is quick to learn and adapt to new situations. I have a first rate command of the English language in both written form (having written many essays and three dissertations during my academic studies) and verbally, where it hase been vital I be a strong communicator when interracting with colleagues and in liaising with affiliated organisations and the public (which has also given rise to me acquiring excellent customer service skills). I am also numerate and having experience in working within finance departments. Through work and during my university studies, I have developed strong IT skills. These include Microsoft Word (essential when writing essays, dissertaions, reports and minutes), designing and maintaining spreadsheets with Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint (extremely useful when making presentations). I am also experienced in using the internet, in both an academic and worked based capacity, and have used various custom built databases. I am highly organised, having experience in managing both my own and colleagues schedules, as well as event planning (including the booking of venues, speakers, equipment and refreshments). I have frequently had to multi-task and prioritise my work-load. It has been essential that I undertake research during my academic studies and during several of my previous employment positions, which I have enjoyed and am extremely proficient at. I have a keen eye for detail and I am skilled at analysing information and drawing logical conclusions from this, and have experience in report generation and the collation and synthesis of data. I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction and I am interested in a number of other areas of academia, such as Archaeology, Philosophy and Physics. I am a fan of music from a variety of genres, and play the guitar and bass, and also enjoy in art and reading poetry, notably from the Romantic period. I have travelled in both Europe and America, and enjoy experiencing different cultures.
