A curious and enthusiastic designer based in Leicester, looking to move to London. Have worked freelance for four years and as Head Designer in a small children's publishing house since December 2014. My thirst for design started whilst I was at university, studying Digital Performance Arts. I created art across a number of media, including: live action, film, sound and drawing. During this time, I was asked to design a poster for our annual performance festival, and. it was from this point that I realised I really enjoyed designing for print. I found that I was able to draw on my experience in creating multimedia art, and could utilise a similar creative process, which I found really interesting! After designing the print collatarel for this festival, I was asked by other organisations across the university to design for them, too. As the commissions started to increase, I realised that I found designing not only enjoyable, but that I might just have some skills to develop. It was then that I realised I'd like to pursue a design career, and landed a job as a designer of children's books. In this environment, I was able to sharpen my skills and to test my creativity on international products. Having started my career with a sound knowledge of Photoshop, I have since that time expanded my horizons, learning more about: typography, motion graphics, web design, 3d rendering, branding and more. I realise that I'm just at the beginning of my career, and still have a huge amount to learn. But I hope that I can meet new people to learn from, and new environments to challenge and encourage me to go further.
