Work history

Bodo Sperlein London

Aug 2014
  • Currently working on projects for international clients with manufacturers globally. Reporting directly to the creative director. As the full time designer I oversee the whole development process from concept generation and client presentations through to managing manufacture and exhibiting finished collections on an international stage. Within the year with the company over 60 products have been launched. The majority of these for TANE, a Mexican silver brand, relaunching globally. These products were launched in Paris at Maison & Objet, in January 2015 before launching in Munich and London throughout 2015. Along with quality control of product, and perfecting manufacture I also had a large input in exhibition planning and installation working in the respective countries to ensure events were as successful as possible. These events were supported by Architectural Digest in France and Germany. Within the last year I took control of a web design project to completely re-work the companies website and store. Adding press download sections, improving and updating the customer shopping experience and giving the company more control over editing content. With product design being my mainstay I have worked with furniture manufacturers to update a signature range, improving construction and finish. Along with ironing out manufacturing difficulties on a number of projects and generating concept presentations for clients and studio projects. Another key role is the aiding of the daily management of the studio, working as a small team, managing interns and working with the studio manager to oversee the smooth running of projects.

Intern & Designer

Jake Phipps

May 2014 - Aug 2014
  • Jake Phipps design and make high end furniture and lighting, from bespoke commissions to small run products. While working at Jake Phipps I was able to further my skills into prototyping, rendering, Rhino, concept generation and exhibiting work. Having previously only worked in a traditional industrial design setting, working on high value objects and often bespoke pieces was incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling. Main roles included preparing drawings for manufacture, concept generation, finding technical solutions, renders for promotional material, prototyping and experimenting with materials for future ranges and preparing for exhibitions. Exhibitions Super Brands at Tent 2013 as part of the London Design Festival. The Goldsmiths Pavilion 2013 at Somerset House.

Freelance Designer

Click Industrial Design

Apr 2012 - Apr 2014
  • Click Industrial Design are a industrial design consultancy based in Sheffield. The role was varied working on projects from concept generation through to manufacturing detail, value engineering and concept rendering. There was also work on in house projects with one going to market. The time at Click helped to reinforce and improve my knowledge of manufacture and the design process in a commercial environment. It was also a brilliant insight into dealing with clients and designing with their briefs at the forefront.
