Working with the Menswear Masters program I am guiding a group 17 students through a demonstrative course for modern tailoring techniques. This role also entails me to consult students individually and work through each student’s personal designs ensuring that they produce a piece of work which is designed and technically realized. I have previously taught part-time at the University on the Bachelors course managing 40+ students through their fundamental construction coursework and guiding them into fully finished shirt project.
This is my research initiative specialising in the remobilisation of military uniforms into civilian lifestyle. Mixing craft and modern production methods I deconstruct demobbed military uniforms and integrate premium selvedge denims into functional construction methods. I have presented the collection at: Denim Boulevard, Milan – June 2016 and H&M Design Awards: Semi-Finalist. – Oct 2015.
I used the production software, Zedonk, to organise the raw materials for production of the collections, after which I was delivering the materials and technical packs to the relevant factories.
I worked with Nasir Mazhar on accessory, womenswear and menswear design. I kept up with the fast paced environment assisting the team leading up to LFW and LCM. I was involved in the development of collections, attending fittings, pattern cutting, grading, studio organization and production packs. Whilst preparing for fashion week Mazhar was also involved in collaborative projects, which I was involved in.
At Sarah Baadarani I was a runner picking up garments tools and other supplies which the team needed. After a short amount of time I started hand stitching and worked on three embroidered outfits which were shown on the catwalk. I was also trusted to organise the collection before fashion week and was invited back to assist on the lookbook shoot.
