I have been delivering accurate, timely and stylistically accomplished translations of advertisements (mainly websites) from Italian and French into English for more than 2 years. I am particularly comfortable with fashion, culture and lifestyle material, but I also translate more technical texts, such as copyright agreements, privacy policies and CVs. My clients have included fashion brands such as Intimissimi, Carpisa and Yamamay.
I researched and created content for children's art workshops, and coordinated 20+ volunteers during events. I was responsible for the decoration of venues and the set-up and material provision for workshops, and assisted more senior colleagues in organising the everyday delivery of information and assistance to museum guests. I liaised with the Hermitage staff & volunteers, visitors, guest speakers and artists in order to maintain a high level of customer service and to assist the everyday organisation of the museum. I also translated museum publications from Russian into Italian and English. My favourite project involved translating from the Russian a series of conference papers from Hermitage researches that will be presented at the British Museum on occasion of the exhibition "Scythians: Warriors of Ancient Siberia."
I have been enjoying every minute of this degree, and my results show it: I had a First in both languages in Year 1 and 2, and I believe my final year mark will follow suit. I spent 3rd year studying and working in Russia while also writing a 8000-word dissertation on contemporary Russian writer Liudmila Petrushevskaia.
I have a strong humanities background and graduated with A* and A equivalents in English, English literature, French, Italian, History and Philosophy.
I was awarded this scholarship for achieving a First in Year 1 of my degree. As a result, I have been admitted as a Newnham College Scholar for the academic year 2015-2016.
Awarded for my performance in the Russian language exams for that year.
This award was designed to help top-performing students of Russian attend a three-week language course in Saint Petersburg.
