Starting as Assistant Buyer focused on Contemporary (RTW, Accessories and Footwear), progressing to perform a Junior Buyer role covering the whole of womenswear alongside one other Junior Buyer for the final season, covering a total of around 200 brands over International and Contemporary departments. In addition assisted 2 Junior Buyers on Shoescribe who had responsibility for buying a total of 160 brands. Undertaking appointments and writing orders for approval from Head of buying, in accordance with appropriate analysis and company buying strategy. Utilising negotiation skills to acquire the best terms in line with strict standards set by new management team. Continually researching new brands with responsibility of producing proposals prior to new season for buyers and management, as well as attending trade shows to research and meet with new brands. Responsible for creating trend boards each season following buys, highlighting key trend/press and commercial product and stories to be presented to internal (visual & merch) teams as well as external (press). Analysing weekly figures to provide action points to maximise sales potential and minimise risk. Conceptualising and creating mood boards to communicate seasonal themes with visual team for denim and holiday corners, ensuring key product and styling. Assisting with management of the calendar for all markets alongside Assistant Buyer, covering approximately 500 brands with multiple buyers (Womens, Mens and Shoes). Continuous monitoring of website to ensure correct representation of product and brands, coordinating follow up meetings with merchandising and visual team where needed as well as monitoring competitor activity. Management of 2 interns assisting with the order checking process to ensure timely raising of PO’s by back office team and delivery of new season stock by suppliers.
Assisting the Buyer in the daily running of the department, covering the assistant buyer role in addition to fulfilling the role of admin. Managing interns to ensure smooth running of the admin processes across the accessories department. Creating and providing analysis for buys and meetings and assisting buyer on appointments. Undertaking solo appointments in Paris, as well as attending trade shows to source new brands. Analysis of weekly sales to monitor trade, suggesting and actioning ways to potentialise sales and minimise markdown (stock swaps, transfers, returns, features, training, incentives, etc.) Monitoring stock to ensure timely flows of stock in and out of the business and negotiating with suppliers where appropriate. Analysis for the initial range review in contribution to deciding the buying strategy for the forthcoming season. Frequent communication with the store teams to promote 2 way feedback and maximise sales. Management of pop up shop and seasonal gifting department; sourcing product, liaising with new suppliers and negotiating delivery terms whilst adhering to strict deadlines. Writing orders for approval of the buyer. Communicating with store and press team to ensure maximum exposure during the short selling period.
