Under my role as Editor & Sub-Editor for two of Tianjin’s leading English language print magazines (Business Tianjin and Tianjin Plus), my responsibilities ranged from: ● Writing lead articles in both magazines (Cover and Feature stories) as well as for other regular columns on various business and lifestyle topics ● Preparing questions for and carrying out face to face interviews with business experts for lead stories ● Copy editing and proofreading other contributing articles ● Overseeing magazine closing process, signing off on design layout and ensuring design adhered to magazine voice and tone ● Forward planning content for future issues, pitching new article ideas After moving back to the UK, I continued to work for these magazines on a freelance basis, continuing to write articles and proofread remotely from London.
Linstock Communications apply the latest thinking to protect reputations, influence behaviour and create compelling communications strategies for clients across a range of sectors. I provided PR/ comms support for clients in financial services, higher education, public sector and not-for-profit organisations. I gained valuable insight to how the PR and communications industry works in the UK across a range of corporate sectors. As an intern, my responsibilities changed on a daily basis, however some of my regular duties involved: ● Research: Producing briefing notes to support new business leads and pitches. ● Account Support: Simultaneously providing support across client accounts in terms of desk research, social media updates, coverage reports, events and account admin. ● Writing content for blogs and weekly newsletters: keeping up to date with news and current affairs in order to write blog or newsletter materials relevant to and for Linstock clients. ● Media monitoring and analytics: Analysing and gathering information from a range of media channels including social media, print, digital and broadcast, with key duties for crisis communications clients. ● Office management: Answering telephone calls, booking and setting up meeting rooms ahead of daily appointments and admin work such as keeping contact databases and meeting agendas up to date.
