I additionally hold residence in this contemporary boutique jewellery store. Here I am solely responsible for the design and production of the John McKellar brand ranges. I am additionally responsible for the design and presentation to clients of all bespoke commissions which are co-branded between Mackay Fine Jewellery and John McKellar. I utilise CAD technology on a daily basis to create designs which can be successfully cast and manufactured.
I am also responsible for the manufacture, finishing and stone setting of these pieces which means that I have an in-depth knowledge of metal tolerances, casting issues and ease of finishing/setting processes.
I also carry out or supervise all repair work. Through this work I have gained a volume of knowledge of older and traditional jewellery design which influences my contemporary work.

I have been running my own jewellery business for the last 8 years. I have successfully built my business by offering traditional Goldsmithing and stone cutting skills combined with cutting edge Computer Aided Design to create designs and products which are contemporary and of an exceptional standard.
By harnessing the opportunities of modern 3D CAD and rendering software I am able to design with the clients’ brief, and offer them confidence that what they see first as a sketch on paper will translate into a beautiful real-world design. I work closely with my clients to ensure that the piece represents the client and their unique style.
I am passionate about designing beautifully crafted contemporary jewellery, using the most exciting materials available. To ensure the continued relevance of my design work I regularly attend jewellery exhibitions and follow contemporary design blogs to keep abreast of current fashions and emerging methods and trends.
