About me
Ash enrolled on the MA Graphic Arts Course at UWE Bristol in September 2018. It has provided him with a great opportunity to experiment with his own visual practice. Ash was born in Winchester as part of a military family, living in various parts of the country from Lancashire to Dorset. He was first introduced to Design at Duke of Yorks, a military boarding school in Dover, where he sat a GCSE in Product Design. Ash really enjoyed the branding design and layout aspect of the course so chose to study Graphic Design, Photography and English for his A Levels at Gillingham School in Dorset. On completion of his A levels he was presented with the WI Cup Award for excellence in art & design at the annual Prize giving ceremony. After A levels Ash chose to study Graphic Design at Falmouth University in the year they opened their brand new Fox 4 building on Woodlane Campus. In addition to his studies he set-up and hosted an event called 'The Arty Pharty Art Fair' in a local bar in Falmouth; this was a space for himself and other students to exhibit and sell their artwork. Ash devised a few fun competitions to generate a buzz around the campus and it was so successful he was invited to organise two more events at the venue. Ash spent his second year qualifying as a stand up paddle-board instructor under the direction of the successful entrepreneur Sean White, owner of the WeSUP Paddleboard Centre at Gylly Beach. Once qualified he spent most weekends and holidays of my final year teaching holiday makers and locals how to SUP. Ash loved the Cornish lifestyle so much that after graduating in 2017, he spent a further year instructing stand up paddle boarding as well as doing some freelance design work for WeSUP. He managed to drag himself out of Cornwall in September 2018 to enrol on the MA Graphic Arts Course at UWE in Bristol, which has provided him with a great opportunity to experiment with his own visual practice.
