About me
Ashley Wilson is the founder and sole proprietor of Sculpt. Born into a family of engineers and mechanics in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, Ashley’s career can be traced back to his first love, Lego. As his creativity grew into adolescence, and further encouraged by his secondary school art teacher, Ashley went on to study BA(Hons) Interior Architecture & Design in 2007, at what was then Leeds Metropolitan University.
After completing his studies Ashley relocated to London, where he became an Interior Designer at the esteemed interior architectural practice Lustedgreen. Working alongside the company’s partners, Graeme Lusted and Nigel Green, Ashley spearheaded renovation projects across the capital. Today, his work and influence can be experienced first-hand at Foyles Bookshop, Waterloo Station, The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, and the 13,500 square foot Mayfair restaurant Hide.
In 2016, Ashley moved to Birmingham. Inspired by the sense of community and ambition found in the city of innovation Sculpt was born in the same year, and Ashley became the Director of his own company while still in his twenties. Since then, Ashley has entrenched himself in the city’s art, design and academic communities, while building on its reputation as a creative hub.
As Visiting Tutor at Birmingham City University - BA(Hons) Interior Architecture & Design - Ashley teaches the next generation of designers, while as co- organiser of the Birmingham Design Festival he curates one of UK’s fastest- growing industry events for arts, design, architecture and technology, welcoming global speakers and almost 7,000 guests to the Midlands.
Projects credited in
- Lucky Pig FulhamOccupying what was originally the ground floor of a former parish hall, and more recently a club/restaurant, the site required substantial internal remodelling and structural alterations in order to meet the client’s criteria of retaining the atmosphere and ethos of their first venture – essentially a prohibition-era speakeasy – while creating a new and original restaurant and bar in its own right. We achieved this by imagining the Lucky Pig Fulham as the previous incarnation of the first bar, b2
