As Studio Manager at Ministry of Sound in London I am the main port of call for all design requests that come into the in-house creative team. Working with all areas of the business to take creative briefs to the team of graphic designers and then supply the respective departments with the finished product. The role itself requires a friendly face and calm nature, the ability to build excellent rapport, an understanding of the creative process and a detailed knowledge of how each area of the business works. Careful attention to advise where necessary in order to deliver a range of marketing materials, across both print and digital is also a must. Tight management of the creative schedule, quick and articulate communication between the creative team with departments around the business, whilst facilitating communication that may need to go out of house to partner agencies and project managers is also a natural part of my daily schedule. The ability to focus on the task(s) at hand, without allowing political or emotional views become involved requires a constant and conscious effort, especially when advising on best practice is this extremely important. Always remaining flexible and fluent in the schedule status as projects with tight deadlines and a heavy workload is a constant. Working in a media company naturally requires that diligence with sensitive and confidential information is second nature. It’s also key to be aware of what is in the schedule, the status and progress of projects at all times and keeping in mind what is required for a project to commence or to quickly obtain any assets, files or information for a project to continue.
