Spearheaded the Athletics and Cross-Country club portion of the Run/Bike cross-national Campus-to-Campus Challenge from June 7th-11th, raising £8000+ for the university's Access to Activities fund. Plotted safe, runner friendly routes from Canterbury to Paris (via Brussels and Saint Quentin); organised relays, matching participants with partners and distances/routes tailored to their varying abilities; booked transport (minibus and ferry across the Channel) and a week’s accommodation for 7, on a £500 budget. Worked with staff at the University of Kent Union over the 6-week planning stage; communicated, negotiated and translated in French on behalf of the group while abroad; advised participants on post-run nutrition and rehabilitation.
Led club of 70+ members; selected teams and organised competitions, both national (Kent County Cross Country races, Gloucester Cross Country BUCs, Sheffield Athletics BUCs) and international (Lisbon half marathon), for the cross country and athletics teams. Planned flights, hotels, travel to and from airports, and meals; devised and managed weekly training sessions.
Helped prepare conference rooms in advance of presentations; suggested activities to stimulate the flow of ideas; took minutes at meetings; translated content from French to English and vice versa; generated graphs; co-wrote an article on mobile technologies for Added Value’s monthly online magazine; transcribed dialogues in videos for Added Value’s main website.
Ran 300 miles in 10 days as part of a school-sponsored challenge celebrating the university’s 50th anniversary; tested my physical and mental limits of stamina, endurance, and perseverance; helped raise £6000+ for the British Heart Association.
Co-led classes of +/-15 foreign language students of varying levels of English proficiency for three hours a day. Taught students how to stimulate their creativity using sticks, pallet knives and unusual pallets. Outside of class hours, responsible for up to 30 students in a residence hall in the evenings as well as during excursions; organised duty rotas for co-workers; terminal co-leader on the crucial first airport run and bus leader on other Sunday airport runs; backstage assistant for talent nights.
