I am hoping to gain a wide range of work experience to push my skills and aid my career by undertaking challenging positions and new projects. My design experience ranges from social media, to sports fashion, to branding, to editorial design, across a variety of settings and roles. Having a wide variety of work so far, from hairdressing to retail to performing at Leeds festival, I am willing to take on any challenge given with passion and energy.
As a Design Assistant at Cornerstones Education, I am required to assist the Hub Team by creating a variety of resources to accompany the curriculum we provide to primary schools. This is a diverse role, specifically focused on layout design but occasionally incorporating illustration, film and photography skills in order to create the most appropriate resource for our clients. The position requires a lot of flexibility, as I am often shared between teams, from Literacy to Mathematics to generic curriculum design.
During my time at Clearsilver I had the opportunity to learn a different creative process with a heavy focus on research and practicality for a particular client. I developed strong InDesign skills, and managed 2 projects that I continued to oversee after my placement. Following this I was taken on as a freelance graphic designer, being called in when they needed content producing quickly.
Focus International design clothes for well known sports brands such as Henleys, Ellesse, Joe Browns, Ecko Unltd, Zoo York, Unsung Hero and American Freshman. This placement required a fast pace and a lot of independent work in order to meet deadlines, as well as working as part of a team to create complete ranges for a variety of customers. At this placement, my greatest achievements were gaining the skills and knowledge to design and sign off my own range for Zoo York boys (to retail in TKMAXX). As I proved myself to be an effective member of the team, I continued to work for Focus as a freelance designer throughout the remainder of my studies.
