Working closely with the Creative Director, Senior Designer and Marketing Department in the Head Office, my role included producing marketing campaigns and POS graphics for 150 stores across the UK. Main responsibilties included determining appropriate messages to be conveyed through branding, shop window displays and in-store graphics, copywriting, developing visuals for presentation and producing finished artwork for print. The role involved maintaning and developing the Moss Bros brand within a highly competitive and ever-changing retail sector, requiring the need for constant renewal and pushing the boundaries creatively.
The main purpose of my role was to contribute to positioning the IKEA store as the leader in ‘life at home’ in our market in order to maximise sales and ensure long-term profitability. My main responsibilities included managing another Graphic Designer and their workload in order to create an efficient and cohesive department and produce maximum output. Other duties included designing, planning and producing any and all printed and digital communication required for the store, with changes and updates occurring extremely regularly to promote seasonal offers in-store activities and price actions. One of the largest contributions I made was during the three month ‘METOD’ project, which involved the store replacing its entire Kitchen range. This was the largest undertaking in IKEA’s history and would necessitate the redesign and rebuilding of two whole departments. I worked closely with the store’s commercial team and my manager, the Communication and Interior Design (Com&In) Manager, to develop and implement store communication that would ensure consistency but also create an easy and enjoyable shopping experience for the customer.
My role involved running a small production department which provided CD, DVD and Blu-ray printing and duplication services. Main duties included producing large quantities of high quality products in rapid turnaround times and to tight deadlines, providing custom packaging solutions to suit each client’s unique requirements; utilising my skill sets and knowledge of pre-press and artwork setup, printing and finishing on a daily basis.
My role involved designing for a variety of small format print products such as brochures, posters, flyers and stationery and large format items such as in-store POS, window graphics and internal & external signage. I was responsible for working with clients directly on a daily basis, ranging from schools and universities to such high-profile, global brands as the BBC, Henri Lloyd, Kelloggs and the Sky/GB 2012 Olympic Cycling Team. Due to the boutique nature of the organisation, I was heavily involved in all aspects of the business and worked closely with production staff. As a result, I have a wide ranging knowledge of printing and finishing processes. I was also responsible for the company’s social media output on Twitter and Facebook and provided my photography services to a variety of clients.
Worked as a member of the school’s in-house media and marketing department. Job responsibilities included producing a hugely diverse range of designs such as stage sets, marketing materials, presentations, teaching and learning aids, motivational materials and internal promotions; all printed and finished in our own production facility.
