I’m excited by shapes, form, movement and colour. The tip of a pine-tree, the wave before it drops, the corner of a building, the curve of an eyebrow; I find these forms exciting. A kingfisher’s feathers, new sneakers, new sunrises, orange Lego blocks; I find these colours exciting. In life we’re provided with endless forms and colours and I excitedly recreate them in my illustration work, I enjoy creating exciting illustration, illustration that excites people.
I am a highly experienced illustrator, renowned for a positive, creative outlook and a solid understanding of commercial design, the visual arts and successful business. I love it. I relish diversity and welcome all opportunities; large or small, print or digital, editorial, advertising, publishing, interiors, fashion, surface patterns, murals and any other world beyond.
Projects
- Tim Peaks at Kendal Calling FestivalIn the Summer of 2024, my sketchbook and I were invited to Tim Peaks (one of many stages at Kendal Calling Music Festival, in the Lake District, UK) to join the team and document the long weekend of music and more. Tim Peaks isn’t like any other festival stage, founded by my frequent creative collaborator Tim Burgess (solo artist and frontman of The Charlatans), Tim Peaks is a diner in the woods providing coffee, pizzas and (of course) the best music, to Kendal Calling’s festival goers. - Bicycle Frame Paint ProcessI worked with Cannondale Bikes here in the UK for their parent company Pon in Amsterdam to create an infographic illustration that guides their customers through the paint process of bicycle frames, from raw metal to leaving the painting plant and being put together as bikes ready to ride!
- Snapshots of MelbourneWhenever I have the opportunity to travel I will always take my sketchbook, sometimes my MacBook and (this time) even my Wacom tablet. Having returned from a month in one of my favourite cities on earth, I have a folio full of pencil drawings and colour illustrations as a visual journal of my time there.
- UK Barista ChampionshipsWorking alongside the UK chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association, I designed the branding and illustrated sets of creative assets for the UK Barista Championship events, running across the UK throughout 2024. The SCA hold their own stand-alone barista tournaments as well as managing events at coffee festivals, with categories including cupping, roasting, coffee-based cocktail making and latte art.
