I am an enthusiastic, sociable and highly motivated final year student looking to pursue a career in marketing and advertising, with particular interest in marketing communications, account management and e-commerce opportunities upon graduation in June 2016. I am passionate about technology and the way it can be used to surprise and delight people, with a recent yearlong placement at Apple further fuelling this interest.
Situated within the largest marketing department of 3M’s Industrial Business, I worked primarily on e-Commerce opportunities. I delivered a full Search Engine Optimisation Audit using Google AdWords (KeyWord Planner) and SEO Quake tools for the divisional website (50+ pages), responsible for £5m of sales annually. Identifying meta tagging of video content and updated templating for website pages to align with new Google algorithm requirements as key areas for improvement, I implemented the suggested changes across the Content Management System and YouTube Channel.
Working across multiple FMCG client accounts gave me insight into various aspects of account management such as community management, concept development and market research. Utilising my social media skills, I produced a social media evaluation report highlighting the client’s most successful and engaging campaigns.
This role provided an excellent opportunity to gain valuable marketing and sales skills. Selling Virgin Media packages to the student market, I exceeded my sales targets by 140% over the term. Working on my own in a commission based job required high motivation and confidence and has developed the creative skills needed to produce successful marketing campaigns.
