Fashion Edge is a footwear wholesaler based in Fitzrovia, distributing to retailers from top UK department stores to small independent boutiques across UK and Ireland.
As part of my university degree, we had the opportunity to look for a 1 year internship where we were able to gain experience in the retail industry. Alongside this, we also had to complete a project in order to achieve a Diploma in Placement certificate.
At Fashion Edge my day-to-day jobs included:
- Managing sample arrival and sample log
- Managing Sales team calendar
- Creating order templates
- Adding orders on SAP as well as stock replenishment
- Creating and Adapting 'brand bibles'
- Making presentations of different brands to send to existing and potential stockists.
3 months before my 12-month internship finished, Fashion Edge asked for me to stay on to be sales representative for two brands, which I continued to do so part-time during my final year of studies. As my role adapted I was given much more responsibility which included:
- Running and setting up appointment with buyers
- Work with retailers to help select their buy for SS19/AW19
- Processing orders with factory
- Went on road trips around country to expand on current stockists and also look at competitors.
- Working through best and worst sellers based on seasonal trends, previous selling history and price point.

2 weeks work experience in the outerwear and jewellery buying departments.
Worked closely with the merchandising, design and press team. My day-to-day BAA jobs included:
- Sitting in critical path meetings, fit sessions and delivery schedule meetings
- Created comparative shops
- Reviewed weekly sales, weeks cover and performance of jewellery from the previous week

Education
Bachelor of Arts (BA) London College of Fashion, UAL

Studied four years at London College of Fashion completing a varied of collaborations with brands such as Asos, Whistles, Paul Smith and shopping centre Westfields. We also worked with different courses including marketing and visual merchandising to understand how Buying and Merchandising must work with a variety of teams.
During my third year at university I took place in a Diploma in Placement where I worked in footwear wholesaler and distributer, Fashion Edge.
For my final year my dissertation research was to establish the extent to which Generation X’s shopping behaviour has changed as a result of the decline of the UK high street and growth of online.
