About me
I have recently graduated from Central Saint Martins after a two-year long Character Animation MA. I have directed and animated two short animated films, and have worked in a team on a third one.
I have a solid understanding of the principles of animation and am comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines. I enjoy operating both autonomously and collaboratively as a professional, and am consistently a strong contributor to any team. I deliver high quality work and take a realistic, logical approach to my work ethic.
I excel at traditional animation, specifically TvPaint and hand drawn, although I am flexible when the situation requires it.
I am very interested in becoming an animation director.
As a film and animation enthusiast, I genuinely love both animating and supervising. My talent for animation and understanding of storytelling techniques have helped guide my fellow animators forwards on their own creative works, and I have proven especially on my last project, "Resilience", to be competent in dividing the work among other members so that it played to their strengths.
As a recent graduate and as someone who enjoys experimenting, I'm looking forward to delving into the professional and creative atmosphere of the industry.
Projects
- ENO pitch - The Indian QueenThis was my pitch for a short inspired by the English National Opera's staging of "The Indian Queen". I wanted to implement both stop motion as the animation technique, and the combined use of blacklight and blacklight-sensitive paint. Everything therefore would have been dark, and all shapes would have been recognizable through the bright colours emanating from set and puppets. I wanted to concentrate on the relationship between Teculihuatzin, “the queen”, the Spanish conqueror Don Pedro and their daughter - a family portrait if you will, but retold in allegorical form. The queen was to be garbed in a way to resemble a quetzal, to symbolize the Aztecs. The set would have been comprised of a single, imposing tree - standing for the queen's heritage and the Aztec empire - in which she lived with her egg, representing her daughter. Don Pedro would have been portrayed as a gargantuan eagle, said bird being the national animal and emblem of Spain. These are the images I used for my presentation.
- ResilienceThis is my final project for my MA in character Animation. It recounts the tale of a young Mongolian girl's coming of age as she journeys up a mountain to find closure for something she has lost. I created the film using primarily TVPaint. Music by Kevin Penkin. Compositing by Electra Fotopoulou, After Effects Animation by Ana Smith.
